I Shall Not Want

Psalm 23:1- The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.

The Word of God says that He is our Shepherd and we shall not want. The Scripture reminds us that we will want for nothing, because our Father in heaven owns everything, and He does not withhold any good thing from His children, who walk upright. Psalm 84:11 says "For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprighty."

Stand and Fight

How many of us know that there is a cure to all of the turmoil that goes on all around us? The Bible says that we are to be armed with the Word of God. Do you read your Bible? God's Word. The enemy tries to keep us from reading the Word of God. He fills our minds with lies so that we do not find the truth.

Scripture: Ephesians 6:11 says - "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."

Excerpt from Mothers Who Pray:If You Could Have Anything

God can turn your terrible situations around. Jesus prayed at Gethsemane to His Father, and we are to pray. Jesus was in His humanity. Jesus was also divine. He is of God. Jesus prayed when He had the authority to change things, but He was obedient to God. We have to be obedient, acknowledge our Father and pray.

His Plan

Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

The Lord gives us a future. All we have to do is believe that we can have a good future. What comes to mind for most humans is that the troubles come and hinder their dream and this can be so frustrating to most people.

We might ask if I am promised a future and a hope then why troubles? We do not want the trouble to come but it does. Jesus said that troubles would come to all of us. No one is exempt from circumstances in life, no one is exempt from troubles. They will come.

Although troubles do come continually we have intervals of peace and good news but the Good News of God's Word says that God gave all of His children a future and a hope. Hope is powerful. We can continue to have hope, an outlook, a future and a positive walk of faith into believing that what we work hard for and sincerely in we can prosper. God wants us to prosper.

He makes it all possible.

Jesus calls Simon Peter and Andrew and James and John to follow Him.

They left their families and businesses, work and all that they did or had in order to follow Jesus.

Blessed is the man or woman that abides in Christ and Christ in Him. This person will bear fruit in all that they put their hands to accomplish. She will be blessed and she will be able to bless others. She will plant and she will be able to receive a harvest.

Love the Lord with all your heart and abide in Him and He will cause all that you do into a successful existence.

Scripture to study:

John 15:5- "I am the vine, ye are the branches; he that abideth in me and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit."

October 2014-Scripture of the Month

Matthew 3:11-"I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear; he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:"

Lord, forgive me for my bitterness...

It may be that we need to repent for any bitter feelings that we have inside of us. This type of sin can block us from many of God's blessings.

Please forgive my bitter words, my anger, my unforgiveness. Help me Lord to forgive others. It might be a bitter divorce, or a loss of a friendship, an anger over some injustice that you have faced. It can be that you are bitter over a separation from a relative who got mad at you because of your faith.

Someone else might become bitter towards you and it is bringing confusion to your life because of their constant anger towards you. In all of these ailments and circumstances we need constant prayer. Pray.

You need to pray, repent, forgive others, rebuke the demonic spirits and love God and others.

You can start to walk in God's blessings.

Do not just wait on God, although you can. Walk in Faith.

Number 1, the more that you do the more God can bless you, not the more others do, but the more that you do.

Hear the Word of God.

Take some necessary steps.

Commit to action that is based on the Word of God.

Have Priorities.

What are you believing God for?

Talk to God. Be specific.

Come in agreement with your children, wife, husband; those who live with you. They can identify with you.

Pray continually.

Always talk positive. No place for the devil. Open no doors for him to squeeze through.

1 Timothy 5:8- King James

"But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."

God will open up the windows of heaven and pour me blessings and I will have no room to receive them; for they will be plentiful.

Have you ever felt this way? Do you put all your trust in your Almighty Father? If so, you will certainly be blessed and reap the benefits of health and happiness and all that it entails.  Just keep believing and resist the enemy. He will flee and you will receive all blessings.  God opens up blessings and pours them into our midst.

Just stand.

I Can Do All Things Through Christ

There are many people who believe that you can do nothing and they don't realize that it's not you who is pulling the strength out of yourself that is needed to overcome and to climb a mountain; but it is your Heavenly Father. He can do all things in your life. When He sent Jesus to carry the burden He sent His best and only. He sent His only begotten Son and the Scriptures say that Christ strengthens us. He came to save us and to strengthen.

Philippians 4:13-I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Scripture of the month-August 2014

Isaiah 55:11: So shall my Word be that goes forth out of my mouth it shall not return to me void (without producing) any effects, useless) but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose and it shall prosper in the thing in which I sent it.

The light is beautiful: A Great Light for the people........

Happy Is The Man

Proverbs 3:13-Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

There is so much going on in our world today and many times we want to do more than watch. We want to act, but what do we do? How can we help others?

The Bible says that we can find happiness if we get wisdom and then understanding. What do we need to understand about the bad things that happen? We can see the turmoil around the world and we can feel the pain that it brings, so why do we need wisdom? When will the Lord stop all the turmoil and rescue those who are afflicted?

Prayer is a solution. Prayer might not do it all, but when we pray the Lord gives us direction. He gives us the answer and He tells us how to handle a situation.

So wisdom is great and understanding is awesome and they are needed in our lives because we can learn to hear from God.

Be happy every day with the wisdom of the Word of God.

July 2014-Scripture of the Month

Psalm 90:17-

"And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us;"

I Love The Lord

I love to hear Whitney Houston's song, I Love The Lord. In the song she sang, "I hasten to His throne." What awesome words to be able to take us to a place of worship. If only we can somehow run to Him, to His throne and into His arms. Guess what, we can.

We sense the presence of God in His Spirit and He left us the Comforter and for believers we know that we will be able to run to Him in eternity.

He is the light of the world and He is the light of eternity.

Luke 2:25-32

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Ghost was upon him. 26.And it was revealed unto Him by the Holy Ghost that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. 27. And he came by the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for Him after the custom of the law, 28. Then took he Him up in his arms and blessed God and said; 29. Lord now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace according to thy word. 30. For mine eyes have seen thy salvation 31. Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; 32. A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel." (KJV)

2 Corinthians 12:2-4

I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. 3. And I know that this man whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows. 4. was caught up to paradise and heard inexpressible things, things that no one is permitted to tell. (NIV)

The Apostle Paul was caught up; so what did he see?

He said whether it was in the body or out of the body, these things were not revealed to him.

Things he cannot express and only God knows what takes place in paradise.

He was aware of how weak he was and that all mysteries are of God and for Him and that whatever we do obtain in life, is all from God.

In Search For Me, The Light Finds Me

Psalm 139:13:1-7

1. O Lord thou hast searched me, and known me.
2. Thou knowest my downsetting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4. For there is not a word in my tongue but lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.
5. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
6. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it.
7. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or wither shall I flee from thy presence?

God knew us from before we were born and He has searched for us throughout our lifetime. He lays His hand upon you. His hand is over your life...

The definition in Webster's says that atonement is the redeeming of mankind by Jesus' death.

What is redeem? It means to pay off. To buy back or get back. To deliver from sin.

We were reconciled-is to make friendly again. To settle.

Why do we need reconciliation?

Because of sin.
Because we need Christ.
Because we need to be drawn back to the Father.

If we were enemies, man of sin, not as originally created because of Adam and Eve's sin; we need to become friends again to our image of Christ as children of God, friends of God, lovers of God.

HE created us, JESUS bought us back. We are redeemed.

Scriptures to study:

Romans 5:10-11:
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
11. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

May-Scripture of the Month

Romans 5:11-And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Teens Who Sass Their Elders

There are many adults who can identify with others in situations concerning the first time they talked back to their mom, dad, aunts, uncles, grand-parents, teachers, and other elders. Today we see kids who do sass are taking it to a new level. They want to fight their elders or worst or they try to be on an adult level trying to listen in on adult conversation and commenting on them without being asked to.

What does God's Word say? First and foremost, His Word says-Honor your parents and those who are in the Lord. The Bible also talks about sassy kids. Where? Well not specifically but His Word is pointing straightforward to this subject.

1-Proverbs says our words are:

Here are some Scriptures which point out that words can uplift us.
Words can uplift others.
Sassy kids need to know that they are shaping their lives in a negative way.

Turn your words around and please be more positive and respectful to your elders.
Pray to God, accept Jesus.
He can give you the strength to live a positive life; free of sass.

Do you know disrespectful teens who need to turn their words to positive? Discuss it here!

Our Words have the power to:
1. Change a situation.
2. To change us.
3. To gain respect.
4. To keep us positive.
5. To lift the spirit of others.

Proverbs 18:22 (ESV)-Death and life are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat it's fruit.

Ephesians 4:29 (ESV)-Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Matthew 15:18 (ESV)-But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person.

What can adults do when sassy nieces, nephews, sons, daughters and other teens do not take your help, ministry, or compliment?

Pray for them.

Be kind and if they continue to sass you-just give it to God.

They are rebelling and they will have to learn from the harsh consequences of life. Just continue to pray.

The Bible says to pray continually.

Proverbs 15:4 says, "A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit." (ESV)

Proverbs 16:24 says, "Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body." (ESV)

Psalm 19:14 says, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer." (ESV)

Last but not least remind them of the consequences of their actions by speaking rebellious words to those who are in authority over them.

Remember positive words keeps our lights shining.

God Knows All About Us

We cannot hide from the Light, who is God. Wherever we go and wherever we choose to hide; behind truth or a lie-we cannot hide from the Creator who knows all that we think, say and do. He knows how many strands of hair that sits upon our head.

Walk with the Light of the world, don't run from Him. Go to the one who knows you the best.

New Living Translation-
Psalm 139:8-13-"If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the place of the dead;" you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night-but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are both alike to you. You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb."

Psalm 139:8-13-(King James Version)
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10. Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11. If I say, surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
13. For thou hast possessed my reins; thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

How Do We Abide In Jesus?

First of all what does it mean to abide? It means to remain, to reside, or to live in. How do we live in Him or how does He live in us? Well we have to receive Jesus and His Holy Spirit comes to live in us and we are able to come to know Him. When we long for God we draw toward Him and can live in His ways. We can walk on His path. When we abide in Him, He can reveal Himself to us. The Word says He will appear. We can be confident and not be ashamed of our God. We will not be ashamed of His Son or His Word (the Gospel).

We shall not be ashamed of His coming!

1 John 2:28-And now, little children, abide in Him; that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

April-Scripture of the Month

1 John 1:5-This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

Return To Your First Love

Revelations 2:4-5 (NASB)-"But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lamp-stand out of it's place-unless you repent."

We need the light and the love of Jesus.

The Prayer of the faithful avails much-James 5:16.

God's Revelation To His Servants

In Revelation 1:1 (NASB) we read, "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place."

Be a bond-servant. What is a bond-servant? A person bound in service without wages. One who is devoted to another and disregards his own interests.

Jesus Is The King

HE SITS ON THE THRONE AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE FATHER GOD. Jesus came down to earth and was born in the lineage of King David who God raised up. King David was of the tribe of Judah and he inherited the throne and became king. He was the father of King Solomon known as the wise and rich king. Jesus is the King of all and was born on earth in the lineage of kings.

Jesus the Son of God the Father will always be King.

-He can heal you.
-He can save you from yourself.
-He can set your feet upon a rock.
-He can promote you.
-He can get you out of the pit of drugs and alcohol.
-He can stop your pain.
-He can heal your mind.
-He can raise you up.
-He can give you strength to change.

Scriptures to Study:

Isaiah 9:6-For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Rev. 19:16-And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "King of kings, and Lord of lords."

It's What's In Your Heart That Counts

One of the most important sayings we here pertaining to the heart of a person is that God knows it. He knows the heart of man and we cannot hide our intentions from Him. God is everywhere and He is omniscient. We might think that He is not near us or around us but He is strong in our presence. He knows our thoughts and the intents of our heart. He created us so He knows us through and through. He knows our dreams, our actions, our level of faith, our persistence, our strength and He knows if we have good in us or bad. He knows what those good thoughts are about and what the bad ones are pertaining to. When we speak we talk about the things that are full or abundant in our heart.

No matter what we do it's what's in our heart that counts. If we help others, if we preach, if we assist people financially, if we are glad to do the will of God; it's all in our heart and the Lord knows.

Scripture to study: Hebrews 4:12-NIV
"For the Word of God is alive. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

March 2014-Scripture of the Month

Psalm 80:19-Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Positive Atmosphere

Did you pray today?  Although we are busy and don't have time to alter our schedules or chores we can find a moment or longer (recommended) to pray. When we pray we are releasing positive words into our atmosphere.

When we pray we show our love for the Lord. Taking time to meditate on God's Word and drawing closer to Him in prayer keeps our minds on a positive note. We are strong and when we release words they come from what we put inside of our minds.

The Word of God is filled with words of encouragement. Change your words and speak positive, respectful, kind and uplifting words to others daily. YOU WILL BE ENLIGHTENED.

Bad Words-Please Put Them Away

Are you a mother and you have raised your kids to do the right thing in all situations pertaining to life and you look on the surface and what do you find?

Anger, blasphemy, filthy communication out of the mouth of babies you raised who are now grown men and women.

Ask them to please put them away. The Bible says that we ought to walk in love and kindness. We need to be gentle to everyone; especially to our mothers, fathers, church family, and friends.

If it's difficult to do; meditate on the following Scripture and ask God to help you.

Colossians 3:8-But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Broken Road

There is a hole on the pavement near my home and when the traffic goes by daily I wonder if there is someway or somehow that I can fix that piece of hole on the broken road. It's not a huge hole but it's a dip and it sits right at the edge of my pavement near my home and the thing is if someone turns on my neighborhood street they may or may not see the dip. It's not huge; just a tad mediocre but once the driver hits it they will know. It won't cause much damage to a vehicle's tire but who knows. It's a sharp hole right at the turn of the street.

I started to research to see if there was anything that I could do about that hole. I'm not sure if anyone has called about it; since there are neighbors who had been living there longer than I have but for some reason I want to fix it. So I walk to the edge of my driveway to see if I could somehow figure something out. If only I could make some cement or pour a bucket full of rocks in it that would be great.

It's broken and I want to repair it. Have you ever felt broken? You might want somebody to somehow put your emotions back together. Well, God can. Just give it to the Lord. He can fix it. Oh yes He can. Just like a broken road one day we can and will be molded.

Read about Jeremiah:
Scripture:  Jeremiah 18:3-4 says, "Then I went down to the potter's house, and behold, He wrought a work on the wheels.

4. And the vessel that He made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter. So He made it again another vessel as seemed good to the potter to make it."

A Light For Me

There are certain department or furniture stores that carry some of the most polished, unique and original light fixtures or lamps. Some of the lamps have a shiny decor of gold or silver. Some lamps have the perfect color to match a room wall or a comforter on a bed. Many lamps have beautiful designs for a boy or girl's room; with a baseball or a doll figure, etc. Pretty lamps can get us going. We would probably dish out a few extra dollars for a lamp to match our living room furniture.

Why are light fixtures or lamps so desirable? Is it only because of the designs or color? No, it is mainly because of the light that it gives. We need lights in our homes and lamps definitely bring light to a dark room.

Psalm 119:105 says, "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." His Word is a lamp that lights our feet. His Word is a light that directs our path. His Word is a beautiful light. His Word is the most beautiful lamp that exists. It's not pink, blue, silver or gold; it's a spiritual light.

Let His Word guide you daily!

Scriptures To Study:

1 John 1:5-This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

John 12:36-While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus and departed, and did hide himself from them.

Alive In Christ

What's the foundation for a person's deliverance from sin? Becoming alive in Christ is the starting point. He is the foundation and we can be delivered from the sin of our old man. Once we receive Jesus as our personal Savior we come alive in Christ and are born again. It's a spiritual re-birth. When you receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ and believe in your heart that He died for your sins you can start your new walk in Christ; your new life in Him.

The old sin that we knew will began to fall away. The things that we used to do, we will not want to do anymore. Our flesh can die to the sin that we are accustomed to. The Bible says that our old man or old person has been crucified with Him. When Jesus died on the cross He crucified our sin on the cross, our flesh was crucified. Once we realize this spiritual re-birth, and how the Holy Spirit takes residence in our being, we feel new. Our desire will be to walk with God daily and to put away sin.

Galatians 5:24 says, "And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts."

1 Corinthians 3:11 says, "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."

His Atonement And His Love

We cannot get to the Father without receiving Jesus. We must surrender and accept Jesus to draw closer to God. Jesus is our Mediator; He is in the center of a bridge and God is on one side and we are on the other.   We must go through Jesus our Savior to get to our Daddy, our Father, our Creator, our Hope, our Strength, our Deliverer.

Jesus was put to death but with the mighty power of God, He rose again.

He was moved with compassion as He healed and ministered to others on earth. Now He sits beside His Father. His atonement paved the way for us. He redeemed mankind by dying for all of the sins of everyone and He is love.

God is love and He loves us.

He suffered a literal suffering. He carried the heavy cross. He was first beaten. He bore our sins upon His shoulders; heavy, heavy sins. The cross substituted the huge sin we had and He carried them. It was a terrible suffering. It was selfless because of His love for us. He was sinless and just and suffered for the unjust to bring us to the Father.

1 Peter 3:18-For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.

Rush Hour Traffic

The honking of horns and the impatience of drivers makes for a tougher day. When it's rush hour and everybody seems to be going to or coming from work, school or appointments; these mandatory things can all make our schedules hectic. How about just taking a breather for a moment? But that can be difficult sometimes, right?

You can almost feel the loud booming sounds of another driver's radio from their vehicle. When you are a mild mannered person who loves the Lord and who would rather listen to the soft sounds of inspiration, those things can be uncomfortable. I for one love singing to the sounds of beautiful Christian music, particularly from some of my favorite Christian singers.

"You poured out all Your blood, You died up on the cross, You are my Jesus who loves me".  I just love that song by Third Day.  It sits in my spirit and no matter what's going on around me; the traffic, the boom bass, the honking, and the evident stress of other drivers; all of which can disturb many people, but when you focus and keep your eyes on Jesus; you can find peace in your day. And we can all take a deep breath, love God, sing songs in praises to Him and raise our hands in worship.

Whew! Wasn't that a comfy ride to wherever? Hallelujah, peace has invaded your day. The joy of the Lord is our strength every day.

Scripture of study:
Matthew 5:9-Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Be Filled With Light

Matthew 28:19 says, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost."

There are some people who believe baptism washes away sin and others consider it a form of rebuking evil spirits out of someone. There are those who believe baptism to be a step of obedience towards God and toward acknowledging the experience of salvation that the person already has. However, just being baptized has no real power of cleansing us or saving us from sin.

Acts 2:38 says, "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Again, real baptism is receiving Jesus into our hearts and giving our lives to Him. In the name of Jesus for the remission of our sins.  Remission is cancellation of a debt, charge or penalty. He cancels our sin. He has died and became a ransom on the cross. He has risen and is alive and those who live in Jesus are baptized, and the Bible says then they will receive the Holy Spirit.

Scriptures to Study:
Acts 19:6-And when Paul has laid (his) hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
John 3:5-Jesus answered, Verily, Verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and (of) the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

A Night-time Call To Prayer

Have you ever had a bad dream? I mean really bad. And you are awakened from this nightmare and you anxiously look around the room to make sure that all is well. You might pull the covers over your head and try to fall back to sleep.

Psalm 3:5 says, "I laid me down and slept; I awakened; for the Lord sustained me." God wakes us up and we have to be thankful for that so when we have bad dreams or nightmares and we are awakened maybe this is a call to prayer. When we pray God sustains us, so don't let fear take over. Just pray.

The Bible says to arise and God saves us.  The Psalmist says to Him "save me O my God" and He protects us.  He makes all things good even in the middle of the night when fear may invade us.  The fear we have even if temporary can be shut down with faith and prayer.

Psalm 4:1 says, "Hear me when I call, "O God of my righteousness; thou has enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer." In times of fear and uncertainty just get up, say a prayer and the peace of the Lord will fall on you.

God saves us from the terrors of the night.  God calls us to pray for our children, our parents and our other family members. God speaks to us in the night and He covers us beneath the blankets. He is our Shelter of peace.

God Is Not A Secret

Shhh! Can you keep a secret? Not many of us can or would. However, some of us can keep a deep dark secret in our souls when we feel compelled to do so.  It's not a secret that life is filled with so many surprises, trials, happy times and confusing situations. Things happen that we would not have dreamed of or foresee would occur to us and our families.

For instance the terrible storms; literal storms such as hurricanes or tornadoes can unravel homes and bring trouble and chaos.  Forest fires, train derailments and crime inflicted upon victims are beginning to look like a common thing.  The school and mall shootings are terrible and we shiver when they happen.

How many of us know that God is not a secret? When people face trials they pray, come together and draw near to a Father who cares. So we need to call on Him at all times because He is not a secret to be kept.  Matthew Chapter 5 in the message version says that God is not a secret to be kept.  The Scripture says that we are going to tell everybody; we are going public with this; with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  God is available for you in good times and in bad.  We need to be as public as a city elevated on a hill.

Just believe.

February 2014-Scripture of the Month

Psalm 119:105-Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

John the Baptist Bears Witness Of The Light

At the River Jordan Jesus came to John the Baptist to be baptized.  He ministered and later died for the sins of man so that we can have eternal life and receive and bear the light of Jesus. Jesus is the Word and the life and the true light.  John the Baptist bore witness of this.

1 John 5:8 says, "And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood; and these three agree in one."  Matthew 3:13 says, "Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14. But John tried to deter him saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" (NIV).  John the Baptist bore witness even if he said to Jesus that he didn't think he was worthy to baptize the Son of the Living God.

Matthew 3:16 says, "As soon as Jesus was baptized He went up out of the water.  At that moment heaven was opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and aligning on Him.  17. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased."  (NIV).

January 2014-Reflection Scripture of the Month

Matthew 5:14-Ye are the light of the world.  A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.  (Keep Him in your heart but let others know about Him.  He is the light of the world).

The Lord Is My Light-Psalm 27:1-7

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?  the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2. When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
4. One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
5. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion; in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
6. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me; therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.
7. Hear; O Lord, when I cry with my voice; have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

Living Word

Have you ever been around people whose words bring you down emotionally?  Whenever you are around this person they seem to say the wrong thing.  They are just that way with everyone, in every situation and all the time.  They start to speak negatively and they love to come alive when there's some type of gossip in the air.  Did you know that misery loves company?

This person who loves gossip or loves to be negative or speaks negatively about others most of the time; they need a good dose of Scripture.  They need the Word.

The Word is powerful.  It's life changing and brings life.  Do you know that the words that you speak brings life?  I know this is soooo hard to believe.  So put it to the test and start to speak positively about your own life and about those who you love.  Let your kind, positive, life nurturing words--build you and watch it uplift others.

Remember we are all responsible for our own actions.  We cannot disrupt another person's free will but we can be positive and have a positive outlook about their life and speak good words about them.  Then we will see God move and somehow the universe responds.  It will take their free will to change but our powerful, positive, life giving and life fulfilling words will help.

Scripture to study: (ESV)

Ephesians 4:29:  Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Matthew 15:18: But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and defiles a person.

Proverbs 16:24: Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.

Colossians 3:8:  But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.

Today's Lesson-Arise

Scripture:  Ephesians 5:14-"Wherefore He saith, awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light."
Arise means to become apparent, to appear, stand up, to come to light.  Arise means to come into being.

Do you have a dream and for many years it has been a mere thought in your mind?  It's something you envision mentally but you haven't done much to reach for your dream except to talk about it once or twice. You need a push or some valued, encouraging word; something that will move you.  You feel as if you had been asleep.  You are spiritually dead and discouraged because you have no idea what direction to move towards because you feel so lost.

You do not want your dream to die!  The Bible says that without a vision the people perish. (Proverbs 29:18).  They die spiritually.  How much discouragement, pain and discomfort can one hold until they break? Arise!  The Word says awake from sleep.  The Bible says in Ephesians that Christ will give us light.  When you get this light you will have a vision and power to go forth with that vision which comes from God.

Scripture to study:  Proverbs 29:18-"Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he that keepeth the law, happy is he."

Jesus Gives Living Waters

In Scripture Jesus refers to the Holy Spirit who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit together in the Trinity.  Jesus says to the Samaritan woman in John that if she knew the gift of God and who was asking her for a drink she would have instead asked Him and He would have given her living water.

He gives us life everlasting.  He gives us Himself.  Those who want to draw to the Lord will want to draw the water from the well in their spirit.  John 7:38 says, "He that believeth on me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water."  How refreshing is the water!  The living waters of the Word.

Scripture Study:

Daniel 2:22-He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.

Ephesians 5:11-Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

Shine Your Light

How can we be a light that penetrates darkness? Is there a sure way to walk in the fruit of the Word of the Lord?  Certainly there is and we know that when we seek the things of God we can bear fruit.  We must walk in love and in the things of the Spirit.

Remember the Apostle Paul talked to the people of Galatia pertaining to keeping their path straight and their eye on Jesus.  He said that those who walk in the Spirit will show love.  The Holy Spirit that lives in the believer will empower them to live for the Lord in doing the will of God.

1 John 5:12 says, "Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life."

Under A Bowl Or On A Table:

I absolutely love eating healthy cereal and sometimes I anxiously reach for the prettiest bowl to put my cereal in from the kitchen cabinets.  If you take that bowl and flip it upside down you could actually visualize it as a type of cover.  A bowl can be used to cover left over food on a small dish when there's nothing else that will fit the dish.

Imagine lighting a small candle and setting a bowl over it.  What do you think will happen? The candle will go out or at least be hidden and it's light will not be visible.  In a dark room with no electricity in the times of a storm, this bowl on top of a candle would serve no purpose.

Very much like that bowl over a candle fire you sometimes allow the world, your situation and others to put your light out.

You should never allow anyone to put the light inside of you out.  You should never let others make you miserable.  You can look to the Light who is Jesus, to keep you.  He is our truth and He will light your dark days.

Will you give Him a chance today?  He is our strong light.

Shine like a beautiful candle on a table.

The Message

Matthew 5:14-16 (King James Version)

14. Ye are the light of the world.  A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candle stick, and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16.Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Other Translations: The Message (MSG)

Here's another way to put it; you're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world.  God is not a secret to be kept.  We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.  If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you?  I'm putting you on a light stand.  Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand-shine!  Keep open house; be generous with your lives.  By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.

New International Version (NIV)-Matthew 5:14-16:
You are the light of the world.  A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  15. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on it's stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  16. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Jesus Is The Light-Bible Studies

Jesus Is The Light-Bible Studies

The Light

Jesus is the light.  "Ye are the light of the world.  A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid."  (Matthew 5:14). He is our life and our light.  When His glorious light shines through us and within us we cannot hide it. It permeates from inside and goes out to others.  The Lord sets our feet upon solid ground and He sets us upon a rock.

I cried out to Him and He heard my cry.  In the midst of my pain that was so unique from everyone else's I reached out to Him who is the Creator.  Our Father created us and He created perfection but because of the sin of the first man and woman we became flawed. He sent Jesus to take our place and to bear our burdens.  He died for us so that we can be drawn back to Him.

Is your pain like no one else's?  Is it protruding from within and you feel that you are filthy and that others may see you that way?  Call on the name above all names.  Jesus is our Light that will shine in the dark areas of our soul.

In His Word we read in Ephesians 5:14, "Wherefore He saith, awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light."  Are you sleeping?  Do you feel spiritually dead?  So much going on deep within your soul that you need to cry out to someone.  You've tried to explain yourself but no one hears you.

Jesus hears you.  He died for you; He lived for you, He was humiliated for you.  Psalm 27:1 says, "The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?  the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"  He saves us and not only that He shines His light within us.

If He is our light and life why are we afraid?  His Word says that we should not be afraid. He is our strength and He makes us able to be resilient and His power lies within us.  He lifts us up.

Psalm 119:11 says, "Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Have you studied His Word?  Have you received Him?  Let His Light shine in you and stand in His presence.  When you walk in Christ you will not want to sin against Him.

Psalm 119:105 says; "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."  Let Jesus lead the way in you.  Amen.
