There are some people who believe baptism washes away sin and others consider it a form of rebuking evil spirits out of someone. There are those who believe baptism to be a step of obedience towards God and toward acknowledging the experience of salvation that the person already has. However, just being baptized has no real power of cleansing us or saving us from sin.
Acts 2:38 says, "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Again, real baptism is receiving Jesus into our hearts and giving our lives to Him. In the name of Jesus for the remission of our sins. Remission is cancellation of a debt, charge or penalty. He cancels our sin. He has died and became a ransom on the cross. He has risen and is alive and those who live in Jesus are baptized, and the Bible says then they will receive the Holy Spirit.
