Teens Who Sass Their Elders

There are many adults who can identify with others in situations concerning the first time they talked back to their mom, dad, aunts, uncles, grand-parents, teachers, and other elders. Today we see kids who do sass are taking it to a new level. They want to fight their elders or worst or they try to be on an adult level trying to listen in on adult conversation and commenting on them without being asked to.

What does God's Word say? First and foremost, His Word says-Honor your parents and those who are in the Lord. The Bible also talks about sassy kids. Where? Well not specifically but His Word is pointing straightforward to this subject.

1-Proverbs says our words are:
Powerful
Sweet
Deadly
Strong
Great
Belittling
Gentle
Sass
Disrespectful

Here are some Scriptures which point out that words can uplift us.
Words can uplift others.
Sassy kids need to know that they are shaping their lives in a negative way.

STOP NOW!

Turn your words around and please be more positive and respectful to your elders.
Pray to God, accept Jesus.
He can give you the strength to live a positive life; free of sass.

HOT TOPIC OF DISCUSSION:
Do you know disrespectful teens who need to turn their words to positive? Discuss it here!

Our Words have the power to:
1. Change a situation.
2. To change us.
3. To gain respect.
4. To keep us positive.
5. To lift the spirit of others.

Proverbs 18:22 (ESV)-Death and life are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat it's fruit.

Ephesians 4:29 (ESV)-Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Matthew 15:18 (ESV)-But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person.

What can adults do when sassy nieces, nephews, sons, daughters and other teens do not take your help, ministry, or compliment?

Pray for them.

Be kind and if they continue to sass you-just give it to God.

They are rebelling and they will have to learn from the harsh consequences of life. Just continue to pray.

The Bible says to pray continually.

Proverbs 15:4 says, "A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit." (ESV)

Proverbs 16:24 says, "Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body." (ESV)

Psalm 19:14 says, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer." (ESV)

Last but not least remind them of the consequences of their actions by speaking rebellious words to those who are in authority over them.

Remember positive words keeps our lights shining.

God Knows All About Us

We cannot hide from the Light, who is God. Wherever we go and wherever we choose to hide; behind truth or a lie-we cannot hide from the Creator who knows all that we think, say and do. He knows how many strands of hair that sits upon our head.

Walk with the Light of the world, don't run from Him. Go to the one who knows you the best.

New Living Translation-
Psalm 139:8-13-"If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the place of the dead;" you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night-but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are both alike to you. You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb."

IN THE UTTERMOST PARTS, GOD IS THERE.

Psalm 139:8-13-(King James Version)
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10. Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11. If I say, surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
13. For thou hast possessed my reins; thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

How Do We Abide In Jesus?

First of all what does it mean to abide? It means to remain, to reside, or to live in. How do we live in Him or how does He live in us? Well we have to receive Jesus and His Holy Spirit comes to live in us and we are able to come to know Him. When we long for God we draw toward Him and can live in His ways. We can walk on His path. When we abide in Him, He can reveal Himself to us. The Word says He will appear. We can be confident and not be ashamed of our God. We will not be ashamed of His Son or His Word (the Gospel).

We shall not be ashamed of His coming!

Study:
1 John 2:28-And now, little children, abide in Him; that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

April-Scripture of the Month

1 John 1:5-This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.
